King Farmer's Market and Willamette Swim

I came 21 short when I turned in 365 signatures for the required 300 valid. I collected 41 signatures in 2.5 hours at the King Farmer's Market. I used a mixed technique. When I first started, three weeks ago, and when I'm tired today, I stand silently with my sign, waiting for folks to approach. That nets about 6 per hour. The other extreme and, it seems, the technique the pros use, is to ask everyone who walks by. Like the collector near to me and the Market today: "Quick signature to protect animals?"

Today I only addressed people who seemed to read my signs with favor. I asked many fewer people and a much higher percent signed. It was more like networking than collecting and a lot better for my brain.

Then I went for a swim in the river.
